At the Semicon India 2025 summit, India’s evolution from a backend support hub to a full-stack semiconductor nation was showcased, highlighting advancements in chip design, manufacturing, and packaging. Industry leaders described this rise as ‘inevitable,’ citing robust government support and growing global interest in India’s semiconductor ecosystem. The three-day exhibition in New Delhi featured nearly 350 exhibitors. It attracted over 15,000 visitors, signalling the country’s rapidly expanding presence in the global semiconductor landscape.
Over the past two decades, several semiconductor companies have expanded from small engineering operations to full-scale functions spanning logistics, supply chain, hardware engineering, and product management. Concurrently, skill development initiatives in partnership with leading educational institutions are training thousands of students, with long-term plans to prepare tens of thousands of engineers. India’s roadmap combines government commitment, industry participation, and talent development, demonstrating strong global confidence in its semiconductor ambitions despite the complex nature of the sector.
