Quick commerce platforms recorded an over 85% YoY surge in order volumes during the first week of the festive season sale, sharply outpacing the 21% YoY rise in overall e-commerce orders, according to e-commerce enablement platform Unicommerce. The analysis, covering more than 40 million transactions on its Uniware platform, compared the six-day festive period starting September 26, 2024, with this year’s sale week, which began on varying dates across platforms.
Fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), especially healthy foods, led the growth, followed by strong demand in beauty and wellness, health and pharmaceuticals, and home electronics, including appliances and décor. Brand websites saw a 31% jump in volumes, driven by personal care and hygiene products, while fashion, particularly apparel and jewellery, also expanded briskly. Tier-II and tier-III cities accounted for about 58% of total festive transactions, highlighting their growing role in India’s retail landscape. Metros and tier-I cities posted a 22% rise. In comparison, tier-II and tier-III locations registered 20% growth over last year, underscoring the nationwide momentum behind this festive surge.
