Over 18.4 million women-owned MSMEs in the country, says Union Minister of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Mr. Jitan Ram Manjhi

Union Minister of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Mr. Jitan Ram Manjhi, reported that the country has over 1.84 crore women-owned MSMEs. He highlighted that since the launch of the Udyam platform on July 1st, 2020, and the Udyam Assist Platform (UAP) on January 11th, 2023, women-owned MSMEs registered on these platforms represent 39% of the total. As of July 23rd, 2024, the number of women-owned MSMEs is 1,84,59,809.

He outlined several government initiatives to enhance women’s participation in the MSME sector. These include the 2018 amendment to the Public Procurement Policy, which mandates that central ministries and departments procure at least 3% of their annual procurement from women entrepreneurs. The credit guarantee scheme for MSMEs has been revised to provide up to 85% guarantee coverage for women entrepreneurs, compared to 75% for others, and a 10% concession in annual guaranteed fees.
