Non-basmati rice exports grow by 109% since 2013-14

Non-basmati rice exports grew by 109%, from US$ 2,925 million in FY 2013-14 to US$ 6,115 million in FY 2021-22, with parboiled rice accounting for the majority of the exports.

According to the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), broken rice, rice in husk, husked brown rice, and milled rice were also exported.

According to data from the Directorate General of Commercial Intelligence and Statistics (DGCIS), India exported rice to more than 150 nations in 2021-22.

India exported non-basmati rice worth US$ 2,015 million in 2019-20, rising to US$ 4,799 million in 2020-21 and US$ 6,115 million in 2021-22.

Non-basmati rice exports were the top forex earner among all agri-commodities in 2021-22.

Rice production is expected to reach a new high of 127.93 million tonnes in 2021-22, up 11.49 million tonnes from the previous five years' average of 116.44 million tonnes, according to second advance estimates.
