NITI Aayog’s Frontier Tech Hub has launched its roadmap, Reimagining Manufacturing: India’s Roadmap to Global Leadership in Advanced Manufacturing, charting a path to transform India into a top-three global manufacturing hub by 2035. Unveiled in Pune by Hon’ble Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Mr. Devendra Fadnavis, Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Mr. Ajit Pawar, and CEO, NITI Aayog, Mr. B.V.R. Subrahmanyam, the roadmap focuses on integrating frontier technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), Machine Learning, Advanced Materials, Digital Twins, and Robotics across 13 key manufacturing sectors. The strategy aims to raise manufacturing’s share to over 25% of Gross Domestic Product (GDP), create 100 million jobs, and accelerate progress towards Viksit Bharat @2047.
The roadmap outlines a 10-year action plan to strengthen R&D ecosystems, upgrade industrial infrastructure, develop skilled talent, and deploy technology-driven innovations. It warns that failure to embrace frontier technologies could cost India Rs. 23,83,830 crore (US$ 270 billion) by 2035 and up to Rs. 88,29,000 crore (US$ 1 trillion) by 2047 in lost manufacturing GDP. Maharashtra has pledged full alignment with the national mission, positioning itself as a frontrunner in advanced manufacturing. Developed in partnership with CII and Deloitte, the roadmap represents a unified national effort to drive innovation, sustainability, and competitiveness in India’s manufacturing sector.
