Mr. Piyush Goyal, Union Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Textiles, and Commerce and Industry, launched the sale of subsidised Chana Dal under the brand name ‘Bharat Dal’ at the rate of Rs. 60 per kg for one kg pack and Rs. 55 per kg for 30 kg pack.
Chana dal is being sold in NAFED's (National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation) retail locations in Delhi-NCR. The Centre Government's creation of "Bharat Dal" is a significant step towards making pulses accessible to customers at reasonable prices by transforming government-owned chana stock into chana dal.
National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation (NAFED) handles the milling and packing of the chana dal for distribution through its retail locations in Delhi- NCR as well as through the locations of NCCF, Kendriya Bhandar, and Safal. In accordance with this arrangement, the chana dal is also made available to state governments for distribution through their Consumer Cooperative stores as well as for use in their social programmes, police departments, and jails.
