Mahindra, Embraer join hands to bring C-390 Millennium to India

Mahindra Group has partnered with Embraer Defense & Security to introduce the C-390 Millennium military transport aircraft in India, advancing the Indian Air Force’s Medium Transport Aircraft (MTA) programme. The strategic cooperation agreement, signed during the inauguration of Embraer’s national office at Aerocity, New Delhi, builds on a February 2024 Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and covers joint marketing, localisation, and establishing India as a regional hub for manufacturing, assembly, and maintenance of the C-390.
Under the partnership, Mahindra and Embraer will collaborate with India’s defence and aerospace ecosystem to explore local production, supply chain partnerships, and maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) services. President - Aerospace & Defence, Trucks, Buses & CE, Executive Chairman-SML Isuzu Ltd. Mr. Vinod Sahay said the initiative supports India’s security, the ‘Make in India’ philosophy, and self-reliance. President & CEO of Embraer Defence & Security, Mr. Bosco da Costa Junior, highlighted India’s dynamic aerospace sector and the aim to deliver advanced military transport solutions. The C-390 Millennium is already in service or on order with several air forces globally, reinforcing strategic ties between Brazil and India in defence and aerospace.
