In the second quarter of 2024, the Indian personal computer (PC) market, which includes desktops, notebooks, and workstations, shipped 3.39 million units, reflecting a 7.1% year-on-year increase. Previously in fourth place, Lenovo surpassed Dell and Acer Group to become the second-largest PC manufacturer, with shipments rising by 32.7% in the consumer segment and 6.3% in the commercial segment.

Research manager at IDC India and South Asia, Mr. Bharath Shenoy, noted that vendors initiated back-to-school and college campaigns, leading to strong demand in online retail channels. Additionally, preparations for Independence Day sales contributed to healthy growth in consumer PC shipments. Looking ahead, the introduction of artificial intelligence (AI) PCs is expected to boost commercial orders starting in Q3. However, significant consumer demand may not materialize in the short term.
