India's first overseas Jan Aushadi Kendra inaugurated in Mauritius

External Affairs Minister Mr. S. Jaishankar inaugurated India’s first overseas Jan Aushadi Kendra in Mauritius, underscoring the close bilateral collaboration, particularly in health. During his two-day visit from June 16 to 17, Mr. S. Jaishankar and Mauritian Prime Minister Mr. Pravind Kumar Jugnauth launched the Jan Aushadi Kendra, highlighting the cooperation between the two nations in providing affordable generic medications. He expressed his delight, noting the fulfilment of Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi's promise and the significance of the India-Mauritius health partnership in supplying cost-effective, Made-in-India medicines to enhance public healthcare.

External Affairs Minister Mr. S. Jaishankar and Prime Minister Mr. Pravind Kumar Jugnauth also inaugurated a state-of-the-art medical facility in Grand Bois, built with Indian grant aid. Describing the Mediclinic as the "newest expression of our friendship," Mr. S. Jaishankar emphasized that it will provide healthcare services to over 16,000 residents and represents the people-centric development partnership between the two countries. He highlighted the increased focus on health post-COVID-19 and the government's duty to deliver healthcare. He also noted the operational status of the Jan Aushadi Kendra and the Mauritius government's plan to procure affordable key medicines from India. Additionally, he discussed upcoming infrastructure projects and virtually launched 12 Community Development Projects supported by India, strengthening the vibrant and people-centered India-Mauritius development cooperation.
