According to the World Bank's Logistics Performance Index, India's ranking improved to 38 in 2023 among 139 countries, up from 54 in 2014. Vice President and Head of Spend Management at SAP India, Mr. Ashwani Narang,  noted that India now accounts for 20% of SAP's global intelligent spend management and business network (ISBN) platform, which has a supplier base of 8 million. He highlighted that India’s ambition to become the world's manufacturing hub is supported by government initiatives like Make in India and Digital India, as well as subsidies for electronic manufacturing, all of which are driving significant momentum in the country.

Enhancing supply chain management will be essential as India aims to rank among the top 20 in the Logistics Index by 2030. He cited a recent study indicating that over 65% of surveyed companies, including major global organizations, plan to increase their spending in India by more than 50% in the next three years. SAP's ISBN platform, which includes offerings from Ariba, facilitates transactions worth US$ 5.3 trillion and plays a crucial role in enabling real-time collaboration between customers and traders worldwide. The vice president emphasized that while global supply chain challenges are similar, India faces unique complexities as a developing economy, and SAP is committed to providing tailored solutions to help small businesses manage their suppliers effectively.
