India ahead of advanced countries like Germany & Australia in AI adoption and innovation: Report

A recent report by NetApp, a leading intelligent data infrastructure company, highlights India's emergence as a global leader in Artificial Intelligence (AI) adoption and innovation alongside Singapore, the United Kingdom, and the US. Conversely, countries like Spain, Australia, and Germany are trailing behind in embracing AI technology. Based on surveys of 1,300 executives across ten countries, the report indicates that 60% of companies in leading nations have operational AI projects or pilots, compared to only 36% in lagging countries.

The study also reveals stark differences in AI approaches between leaders and laggards, with 67% of companies in leading nations reporting hybrid IT environments. India leads at 70%, while Japan trails at 24%. Despite IT costs and data security challenges, the report emphasizes that these barriers are unlikely to impede AI progress. It underscores the profound impact of AI adoption on global economic growth, innovation, and competitiveness. VP GM Asia at Infobip, Ms. Harsha Solanki, acknowledges India's leadership in AI, citing milestones like UPI payments and initiatives such as the IndiaAI mission and Make AI in India, supported by the country's robust digital infrastructure and extensive mobile and internet penetration.
