India’s Global Capability Centers (GCCs) saw a sequential hiring growth of 5-7% during the July-September quarter, with the most demand coming from roles in artificial intelligence (AI) and data, platform engineering, cloud, FinOps, and cybersecurity, according to Quess Corp’s India GCC Tech Talent Landscape: Q2 FY26 report. The report highlights that sectors such as BFSI, manufacturing, automotive, energy, technology, and hardware have become the main pillars of GCC growth. Hiring budgets are now focused on revenue-critical and resilience-focused functions, creating steady demand for platform engineering, data management, and FinOps roles. AI and data science roles saw an 8% uplift. In comparison, FinOps-driven cloud hiring rose 6%, underscoring enterprises’ focus on performance and cost optimization. Tier II and III cities such as Coimbatore, Kochi, and Ahmedabad recorded 8-9% quarter-on-quarter growth and are emerging as cost-efficient delivery bases. The report also notes that India currently hosts around 1,850 active GCCs, employing over 2 million professionals, with the ecosystem on track to reach 2.5 million by 2030.
However, the report identified critical skill shortages in AI and data (41%), platform engineering (39%), cloud and infrastructure (25%), and cybersecurity (18%), which are prolonging hiring cycles, especially for mid-senior roles outside Tier I cities. Southern metros dominated GCC hiring during the July-September period, with Bengaluru leading at 26% share, followed by Hyderabad (22%), Pune (15%), and Chennai (12%). Bengaluru saw strong traction in advanced AI and FinOps roles. At the same time, Hyderabad gained momentum in multi-cloud integration and data reliability. Pune and Chennai also recorded steady growth in automotive software, platform migration, and intelligent quality assurance.
