9 in 10 Indian knowledge workers use AI in the workplace: Report

A recent collaborative study by Microsoft and LinkedIn revealed that 92% of Indian knowledge workers integrate artificial intelligence (AI) into their daily tasks. In comparison, 91% of business leaders in the country acknowledge the imperative of adopting AI to maintain competitiveness. Titled "AI at work is here. Now comes the hard part," the report draws insights from a survey of 31,000 individuals across 31 countries, LinkedIn labour trends, and Microsoft 365 productivity signals. It underscores a strong desire among employees for AI integration, with 72% of Indian AI users bringing their AI tools to work. Organizations empowering employees with AI tools and training are poised to attract top talent. At the same time, professionals acquiring AI skills gain a competitive edge in the job market.

In India, AI skills have become a hiring priority, with 75% of leaders unwilling to recruit candidates lacking in AI proficiency. This preference for AI skills over experience is significant, with 80% of leaders favouring less experienced candidates with AI skills. Head of Talent and Learning Solutions at LinkedIn, Ms. Ruchee Anand, emphasizes the transformative role of AI in reshaping the talent landscape, noting a 17% increase in demand for AI skills compared to the previous year. She highlights the proactive approach of Indian professionals in acquiring AI skills, stressing the importance of continuous learning amidst evolving work dynamics.
