The Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Mr. Nitin Gadkari, sanctions 29 road projects in Ladakh worth US$ 140.7 million (Rs. 1170.16 crore)

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Mr. Nitin Gadkari, has approved an allocation of US$ 140.7 million (Rs. 1,170.16 crore) for 29 road projects in the Union Territory of Ladakh. These projects encompass state highways, major roads, and other district roads. In a statement, He highlighted that an additional allocation of US$ 21.8 million (Rs. 181.71 crore) has been sanctioned for eight bridges under the CRIF Scheme for the year 2023-24.

Emphasising Ladakh's status as the largest Union Territory in terms of area and the second least populous in India, the Union Minister expressed confidence that the sanctioned initiatives will significantly enhance connectivity to remote villages in Ladakh. He stated that this improvement is poised to boost economic activities, particularly in agriculture and tourism, thereby contributing to the overall infrastructural development of Ladakh.
