Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) has established a new joint venture, Reliance Enterprise Intelligence Limited (REIL), in partnership with Facebook Overseas Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Meta Platforms, Inc. The venture will focus on developing, marketing, and distributing enterprise Artificial Intelligence (AI) services across India. Reliance Intelligence has invested Rs. 2 crore (US$ 2,27,324.39) as the initial subscription for 2 million equity shares of Rs. 10 (US$ 0.11) each. Initially incorporated as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Reliance Intelligence, REIL will later become the joint venture entity under an amended agreement with Facebook Overseas Inc.
As per the agreement, Reliance Intelligence will hold a 70% stake in REIL, while Facebook will own the remaining 30%. Both companies have committed a joint investment of around Rs. 855 crore (US$ 97.18 million) towards the venture. The initiative highlights Reliance’s growing focus on next-generation digital technologies and enterprise-level AI solutions. RIL stated that the transaction does not fall under related party transactions, and no promoters or group companies have any financial interest in the arrangement. The company further confirmed that no regulatory or governmental approvals were required for the incorporation of REIL. The partnership between Reliance and Meta is expected to enhance India’s digital ecosystem and strengthen innovation in enterprise AI applications.
