Private equity inflows into the Indian real estate sector reached US$ 2.2 billion in the third quarter of 2024, registering a 93% sequential growth and doubling the investment volume from last year. For the January-September period, the total inflows amounted to US$ 3.9 billion, surpassing the investment quantum of the entire year 2023, according to Savills India, a global real estate consulting firm.

The industrial and logistics segment led the quarter with US$ 1.7 billion, accounting for 77% of the total investment, driven by rising e-commerce demand and the government's efforts to establish India as a manufacturing hub. The commercial office segment secured 21% of private equity investments, with foreign investors focusing on core assets in cities like Chennai, Mumbai, and NCR. "Despite global challenges, India saw heightened investment activity, with YTD 2024 inflows exceeding the 2023 total, reflecting strong investor confidence," said Managing Director, Research & Consulting, Savills India, Mr. Arvind Nandan.
