Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi unveiled PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, a rooftop solar scheme designed to provide free electricity to households. With an investment exceeding US$ 9 billion (Rs. 75,000 crore), the initiative aims to illuminate one crore households by offering up to 300 units of complimentary electricity each month. To alleviate financial burdens, the Central Government plans to provide substantial subsidies directly to individuals' bank accounts and offer heavily concessional bank loans. The process will be streamlined through integration with a National Online Portal for enhanced convenience.
