Prasar Bharati and the National Media Authority (NMA) of Egypt, to exchange programmes for TV and Radio

India and Egypt have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to facilitate content exchange, capacity building, and co-productions between Prasar Bharati and National Media Authority (NMA) of Egypt. Mr. Anurag Singh Thakur, the Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Youth Affairs, and Sports, and Mr. Sameh Hassan Shoukry, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Government of Egypt at Hyderabad House in New Delhi, signed the MoU.

This MoU is part of the efforts by Prasar Bharati to be able to expand the reach of Doordarshan (DD) India Channel to showcase the country's progress through programs focusing on the economy, technology, social development, and also the rich cultural heritage. Under the MoU, the broadcasters will exchange their programs of different genres like sports, news, culture, entertainment, and many more areas on a bilateral basis and these programs will be telecasted on their radio and television platforms. The MOU will be valid for three years and will facilitate co-productions and training of the officials of both broadcasters in the latest technologies.

Currently, Prasar Bharati, the Public Service Broadcaster of India has about 39 MoUs with foreign broadcasters for cooperation and collaboration in the field of broadcasting.
