A recent study by KPMG India, titled “Redefining TMT with AI,” reveals that approximately 55% of organisations in the Technology, Media, and Telecommunications (TMT) sectors have fully integrated AI, while 37% are currently scaling their AI initiatives. The report highlights the transformative impact of AI on TMT operations, emphasising improvements in efficiency, personalised experiences, and decision-making processes. Notably, 67% of respondents reported a reduction of 5-10% in operational costs and returns exceeding 10% on their AI investments. Additionally, AI is automating telecom networks and personalising media content, unlocking new avenues for growth. The survey involved industry leaders, including Chief Digital Officer (CDOs), Chief Technology Officer (CTOs), and Chief Information Officer (CIOs).

While 13% of organisations are still in the initial planning stages of AI adoption, around 55% expect that 30-50% of their product or solution portfolios will be AI-led, contributing 10-30% to incremental revenue. The potential for a competitive edge through Generative AI is also significant, with 65% of Indian CXOs recognising its strategic importance. However, barriers to AI implementation persist, with 26% citing a lack of skilled workforce and awareness, and 27% highlighting high implementation costs. Regarding workforce readiness for AI, 33% believe that 30-50% of their employees will be AI-ready by FY26, indicating a strong focus on reskilling initiatives. KPMG’s Global CEO survey corroborates this trend, with 80% of CEOs agreeing on the importance of investing in skill development for organisational success.
