The Ministry of Rural Development has sanctioned 78 roads covering 563.67 km and 14 bridges under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) - III for Assam, with an estimated investment of US$ 45.4 million (Rs. 378.68 crore). This initiative aims to significantly improve rural connectivity in the state, facilitating easier access to essential services such as healthcare, education, and markets. By bridging the gap between remote villages and urban centres, these infrastructure developments are expected to enhance overall accessibility and quality of life for residents.

Moreover, the projects under PMGSY-III are poised to stimulate economic development, foster trade, and boost regional commerce. They are also anticipated to create employment opportunities, contributing to local economic growth. Aligned with the government's vision of a prosperous Northeast and a developed India (Viksit Bharat), these initiatives underscore a commitment to inclusive development, aiming to uplift rural communities and accelerate regional progress.
