Maruti Suzuki India to export EVs to Europe, Japan soon

Maruti Suzuki is set to export electric vehicles (EVs) to Europe and Japan, with plans to launch a high-specification EV featuring a 60-kilowatt-hour battery and a range of 500 km, as reported by PTI. MD and CEO of Maruti Suzuki, Mr. Hisashi Takeuchi, announced at the 64th annual SIAM session that the company will offer a range of EV products to enhance customer confidence. Maruti Suzuki also focuses on developing vehicles using biofuels and hydrogen, aiming to leverage India's abundant natural resources to produce biofuels with a low carbon footprint.

Additionally, Maruti Suzuki is targeting substantial export growth, expecting a significant increase by 2030. The company has already begun exporting the Fronx SUV to Japan, with over 1,600 units shipped last month. He highlighted the company's commitment to deep localization to reduce import dependence and ensure self-reliance in the value chain. He noted that exports have surged by 185,774 units from FY21 to FY24.
