Indians up their game on foreign vacations with luxury hotels, formula 1 drives, and epic train rides

Indians increasingly embrace luxury travel experiences abroad, increasing expenditures on premium accommodations and exclusive activities. For instance, bookings at the Four Seasons Mauritius surged by 50% in 2023 compared to the previous year, with a notable preference for private retreats and amenities like the Indian restaurant Chatkar. Similarly, Anantara Hotels and Resorts witnessed a 72% increase in annual room night production by Indian guests across their Middle East and Asia properties, accompanied by a 36% rise in bookings during the first quarter of 2024.

Luxury travel in the Asia-Pacific region is on the rise among Indians, with 89% intending to increase their spending over the next year, as reported by Marriott International. This trend is driven by travel for family celebrations, milestone events, and bespoke experiences tailored to their preferences. These experiences include extravagant options such as F1 supercar drives, Michelin-star dining, and unique journeys like polar cruises to Antarctica and the Arctic. Popular luxury trains routes like Australia’s Ghan and South Africa’s Blue Train are also gaining Favor among affluent Indian travellers seeking exceptional travel experiences.
