India will contribute to 35% of global energy demand in next 2 decades: Union Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas, Mr. Hardeep Singh Puri, at Gastech

At the 52nd Gastech Exhibition & Conference held in Houston, Union Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas, Mr. Hardeep Singh Puri, highlighted India's substantial role in the global energy landscape. He noted that over the next 2 decades, India will account for 35% of the global increase in energy demand, far outpacing global averages. He emphasized India’s "energy trilemma" balancing availability, affordability, and the green transition and expressed confidence in managing this challenge. The themed 'Transforming Energy Through Vision, Innovation, and Action' event focused on energy stability and rapid decarbonization.

The conference featured insights from top global energy ministers, including US, Egypt, Nigeria, and Turkey officials, who deliberated on geopolitical and industry challenges. Assistant Secretary of State for Energy Resources, Mr. Geoffrey Pyatt, highlighted the US’s role in stabilizing global energy flows. Egyptian Minister Mr. Karim Badawi underscored Egypt's strategic position as a key energy gateway. At the same time, Nigeria's Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Mr. Ekperikpe Ekpo, detailed the nation’s natural gas opportunities. Industry leaders like Chevron CEO Mr. Mike Wirth and Cheniere Energy CEO Mr. Jack Fusco discussed India's energy policies' global impact, focusing on natural gas, LNG, and hydrogen technologies.
