India's renewable energy sector is undergoing a major transformation as the country strives to achieve net-zero emissions by 2070, driving a surge in demand for skilled professionals across various fields such as engineering, data science, and project management. Companies like Adani Green Energy, Tata Power Renewable Energy, and Vikram Solar are intensifying hiring efforts, with Adani Green Energy recruiting specialists in project execution, data science, weather analytics, and civil and electrical engineering. The company's goal to generate 50 GW of renewable energy by 2030 is supported by substantial investments in solar, wind, hybrid systems, and hydro-pumped storage projects.

The power and energy sector saw a 9% increase in hiring activity in the first half of FY25, while the renewable energy sector experienced a remarkable 23.7% rise in job growth in FY24, compared to 8.5% in FY23. The demand for talent is particularly strong in Tier-II and Tier-III cities, where most renewable energy projects are located, with high demand for roles in operations, maintenance, solar PV, and wind turbine technicians. The rise in hiring is also driven by infrastructure development, policy incentives, and the expanding electric vehicle industry, particularly in cities like Delhi, Bengaluru, and Mumbai, where engineering roles and sales positions are experiencing significant growth.
