India draws strength from cooperation with US on sustainable energy: Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas Mr. Hardeep Puri

Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas Mr. Hardeep Puri, currently in the US for discussions on energy cooperation, has praised the robust partnership between India and the United States in sustainable energy. He highlighted the ongoing bilateral discussions with US Secretary of Energy Ms. Jennifer Granholm in Washington. He noted that the US-India Strategic Energy Cooperation partnership includes annual meetings and various sub-groups focused on power, energy efficiency, and renewable energy.

He emphasized India's progress in biofuel blending, achieving a 10% blending target ahead of schedule and aiming for 20% by October 2025. He also noted that recent initiatives, including a conference on green hydrogen in Delhi, underscore the depth of the collaboration. Addressing concerns about Western pressure on India regarding Russian oil, he affirmed no such suggestion. He commended the oil trade with Russia for stabilizing global prices. Additionally, he anticipates signing several MoUs during his visit, including those to enhance India’s Exploration and Production sector.
