India commits to enhancing cooperation with Pacific partners: External Affairs Minister Mr. S. Jaishankar

External Affairs Minister Mr. S. Jaishankar emphasized solidarity and cooperation while signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for funding four community development projects in the Marshall Islands. Beginning with a greeting of “Namaskar from Bharat,” he highlighted India’s commitment to supporting these projects to enhance infrastructure and community welfare in the Republic of the Marshall Islands. He also commended the Marshall Islands for successfully hosting the 10th Micronesian Games and participating in the 10th International Day of Yoga celebrations, underscoring the bilateral relations between India and the Marshall Islands under the Forum of India-Pacific Islands Cooperation (FIPIC).

Reflecting on the enduring partnership between the two nations, he noted India’s ongoing efforts to fulfil commitments made during the third FIPIC summit, particularly in addressing challenges such as climate change, natural disasters, poverty alleviation, and healthcare. He highlighted the MoU’s significance and stressed its role in advancing community development through projects like desalination units and dialysis machines. He outlined India’s priorities in cooperating with Pacific Island nations, focusing on healthcare, infrastructure, renewable energy, and capacity building. He reaffirmed India’s commitment to strengthening ties with Indo-Pacific partners, stating, “India is committed to further enhancing our engagement with the Indo-Pacific region.”
