Riders for quick-commerce platforms like Blinkit, Swiggy Instamart, and Zepto typically earn between US$ 0.24 (Rs. 20) and US$ 0.36 (Rs. 30) per order in major cities such as Bengaluru, Delhi, and Hyderabad. Their earnings can vary based on the order size and distance travelled. In addition to per-order payments, riders benefit from surge bonuses during high-demand periods and receive incentives for completing a certain number of orders or hours worked. They can also earn rewards for referring new recruits, particularly during peak seasons.

During festive periods, demand for gig delivery riders is expected to rise by 40% on peak-demand days. The overall home delivery sector anticipates hiring an additional 1-2 million gig riders during this time, according to a report from The Economic Times. Ecommerce and food delivery platforms plan to recruit about 20% more gig riders for the festive season. Currently, quick commerce employs around 3,00,000 to 4,00,000 riders, while the ecommerce and food delivery sectors have a workforce of 4-5 million gig riders, with approximately two-thirds in ecommerce.

Executives noted that quick commerce still represents a small share of overall demand, but it is growing rapidly. Many delivery workers are looking forward to increased earnings during the festive season due to heightened demand and peak-hour bonuses.
