Support from both the Centre and state governments is crucial for India to achieve US$ 1 billion in alcoholic beverage exports in the coming years, according to the Confederation of Indian Alcoholic Beverage Companies (CIABC). CIABC Director General Mr. Anant S Iyer emphasized that promoting ease of doing business is essential, including streamlining permissions for bottling, branding, transport, and online paperwork.

He noted that while the US$ 1 billion target is ambitious, it is attainable. In 2023-24, exports were valued at US$ 389 million, requiring a 14-15% YoY growth to reach the goal. He recommended specific state policies for exports, flexible packing sizes, minimal labour registration charges, exhibition incentives, and input levies reimbursement. Additionally, leveraging Indian missions abroad, airlines, and duty-free shops could enhance brand visibility. India ranks 40th globally in alcoholic beverage exports, with key markets including the UAE, Singapore, Netherlands, Tanzania, Angola, Kenya, and Rwanda.
