India's core sector, which accounts for 26.7 per cent of the Index of Industrial Production (IIP), posted 6 per cent growth in December 2009, compared to 5.3 per cent growth in the previous month, according to official data released by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

Notably, truck sales, a key indicator of goods movement, grew by 201.1 per cent in December 2009, compared with the same period in the previous year.
